info:
A teacher and administrator in North Dakota, Texas, and Missouri for the last 22 years. In 2009, Shannon built a website called www.newteacherhelp.com to reduce the 50% five-year attrition rate for novices in the teaching profession. Encouraged by the success of the website, Holden addressed another passion of his – helping teachers implement technology in the classroom – by building www.educationaltechtools.com in 2010. While presenting live training sessions to teachers in Missouri, Shannon was introduced to the “next big thing” in education technology – the practice of “Flipping” lessons. Shannon built an online course to help teachers flip their classrooms in 2012. The course has become so popular that The University of The Pacific and The University of North Dakota are offering the class for graduate-level credit. The two colleges also offer New Teacher Help, a course Holden wrote that helps teachers transition from college to the classroom. In 2013, Holden hosted the largest webinar in the history of edWeb.net, entitled Flipping Your Classroom Step-by-Step. Shannon hosts two communities on edWeb – New Teacher Help, and TechTools For The Classroom. He also teaches aspiring teachers about Flip Teaching in his undergraduate course at Missouri State University. You can contact Shannon by email at newteacherhelp@yahoo.com
